Psalm 7-8
Psalm 7
Psalm 7:1[1] Yahveh my God, I seek safety in you; help me because of all those who chase after me[2] and deliver me.
Psalm 7:2 They are going to rip my throat apart like a lion, tearing me apart with no one to rescue me.
Psalm 7:3 Yahveh, my God, if I have done this – if there is a crime on my hands,
Psalm 7:4 if I have done harm to one at peace with me or even took advantage of my enemy without cause,
Psalm 7:5 may an enemy chase after and overtake my throat; may he trample me to the ground and leave my glory in the dirt. (Selah).
Psalm 7:6 Get up angrily, Yahveh; lift yourself against the burning anger of my enemies; awake for me; you have destined a judgment.
Psalm 7:7 Cause the assembly of peoples to gather around you; take your exalted seat presiding over it.
Psalm 7:8 Yahveh who judges the peoples — defend me, Yahveh, based on my righteousness and my integrity.
Psalm 7:9 Cause the evil of the wicked to come to an end, but make the righteous permanent. The one who tests the thoughts and emotions is a righteous God.
Psalm 7:10 My shield is from God, who saves those who are upright in heart.
Psalm 7:11 God is a righteous judge and a God who demonstrates his wrath every day.
Psalm 7:12 If anyone will not repent, he will sharpen his sword; he has strung his bow and made it ready.
Psalm 7:13 He has readied his deadly weapons; he tips his arrows with fire.
Psalm 7:14 Notice,[3] the wicked one is pregnant with evil, conceives hardship, and gives birth to a lie.
Psalm 7:15 He dug a hole[4] and hollowed it out, but fell into the pit he had made.
Psalm 7:16 The hardship he plans for others comes back on his own head; his own violence comes down on top of his head.
Psalm 7:17 I will thank Yahveh for his righteousness; I will sing about the name of Yahveh Most High.[5]
Psalm 8
Psalm 8:1[6] Yahveh, our Yahveh, how magnificent is your name throughout the land! You have covered the skies with your majesty.[7]
Psalm 8:2 From the mouths of infants and nursing babies, you have established a stronghold on account of your adversaries in order to silence the enemy and the vengeful one.
Psalm 8:3 When I gaze into your skies, the work of your fingers, the moon, and the stars, which you set in place,
Psalm 8:4 what is mortal humankind[8] that you would think about him, a child of Adam that you look after him?
Psalm 8:5 You made him a little less than a god and crowned him with glory and splendor.
Psalm 8:6 You made him ruler over the creations of your hands; you put everything under his feet:
Psalm 8:7 all the sheep and oxen, as well as the animals in the wild,
Psalm 8:8 the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea that pass through the currents of the seas.
Psalm 8:9 Yahveh, our Yahveh, how magnificent is your name throughout the land.[9]
